How do you add flax seed oil to your diet? I've bought some but I can't figure out a tasty way to regularly include it in my meals. I'd appreciate any and all advice about this. Thanks!

I enjoy flax oil on my oats with soymilk and honey..nice..or make a salad dressing up witn olive oil and flax combined with lemon, apple cider vinegar, honey, black pepper and mustard...yum...or I pour it over my potatoes or pasta and add tamari...sometimes I find the taste abit much other times I welcome it,I esp love it on baked beans with pepper and seasalt...flax works best when on high sulpher foods and dairy...

For all of you flax oil lovers.... make sure when using it- do not add it to anything hot- take it cold or put it on cold foods. From my understanding when you heat flax oil it can turn rancid in your system...

On that same note, some flax seed oil is rancid on the shelf, so my favorite way to get flax is to grind it fresh in a coffee grinder right before i sprinkle it on just about anything. It tastes best this way and insures non rancidity and general freshness. Flax can also be used as an egg replacer in baking recipies.! egg= 3 Tbls. of water to 1 Tbls. of ground flax. Stirred up then added like egg. Fresh ground tastes and just is signifigantly better to packaged ground flax, it worth the investment in the coffee grinder if you don't have one, you'll save money inn the long run. You can use the coffee grinder to grind up fresh herbs and spices too, which really comes in handy i must say...

              Greetings everyone,
This is my first time comming to this site.

I just wanted to second the do not place the flax seed oil on hot items,I just re-read how it can turn rancid, as well as the properties are diminished if not compleatly destroyed.

I think it is great this forum is here.
              Thanks
              Tamara

Hi I just joined this tribe and I'm loving the info. Just wondering though about grinding flax seed ... isn't there heat involved in this process, or do you figure it's not too much ?

You can soak the flax seeds overnight in pure water and add them to a smoothie and that way you get all the good fiber as well as the omega 3's...........example..............1 handful almonds (soaked overnight also) 1 handful flax seeds, 1/2 banana, 1 teaspoon raw honey, 1 heaped teaspoon chlorella or spirulina, 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast, fill the glass you will be drinking out of 3/4 full of pure water or coconut water and put everything in a high speed blender and blend till smooth. Its a wonderful wake up drink to start your day in a healthy energizing way!

Hello. I totally agree with the grinding of flax-seeds in a coffee grinder just before use for ensuring non-rancid oil.

What's the best way to get Spirulina?

I'm still suckinon my jar of nutrex that i got while living in Hawaii, which is the obvious choice there because it is grown there. Its in glass with metal lid which is really inportant to the freshness and quality assurance. The only other spirulaina i know of that is as high quality comes from health force nutritionals, the same who makes the vitamineral green. Its not as popular in the stores but you can order it and its an excellent value for what youu get. Then theres the klamatha stuff, crystal manna, which is something similar to spirulina but waaay more expensive and i'm not sure if it is worth the massive price tag or not?? Green Smiles!

I agree, I have tried many different brands of spirulina, and by far I found the Nutrex Hawaiian-grown kind to be the best & most potent. If you have ever been to Hawaii you'll know that the plants there have this unique glow--and you can just feel this vibrant energy in the land. So I feel that anything grown in Hawaii has a really strong life-force, including spirulina.
I usually take my spirulina by putting a few teaspoons in a smoothie of choice once a day. I also keep a jar of spirulina tablets around so if I am in a hurry & don't have time for a smoothie, I just swallow some tablets with water. I have noticed that if I go off of the spirulina I really notice a difference in the way my skin looks. Spirulina is very alkaline so it boosts the immune system and promotes flexibility & ease among many other benefits, & makes you feel great!

Are you sure you tried this juice? Many of the wellness juices do taste nasty, but this one has a pleasant berry and grape flavor. The benefits come from drinking 1-2 ounces of undiluted juice twice daily.

Anything with a ton of EFA & lately I've been working with lemons in the morning and night time to help clear up some acne due to my 3 week sugar binge.. : ( 1/2 Lemon squeezed into a cup o water. I'm still breaking out but the frequency seems to be diminishing. Not to mention that I really just need to change what I eat for good...not for one to two weeks per month. *sighs* This isn't easy for me because I LOVE ice cream with Hershey's chocolate shell topping. I could give up every other sweet thing if I could just keep that.

Good quality honey too! the only food in the whole world that never spoils!

And I agree with you you Caitlin about spirulina.. I like mine with a fresh fruit smoothie, Can't quite dig the taste of flax seed oil...tho' not against it by any means

.......but also in line with yoga proper rest breathing and exercise... swimming in the sea seems to tighten up my skin in a way I like also

Spirulina is called spirulina because it's composition is the same spiral as our DNA spiral. It's the only food that matches our DNA. Spirulina is very high in electrical charge so it charges our bodies where it's supposed to be which is around 68-72 hertz at the cellular level. Make sure you don't blend it or you take the charge out of it. You can live off of spirulina, there's no such thing as an overdose of the stuff. Bee pollen is the most compatible food for us that comes from land and spirulina is the most compatible food from water. If you do one, try and do the other too.

      Peace
      Steve
