Going to be buying a few 25 pound bags of organic grains, flours, rice, etc.
Not sure what to get. Figured Organic wheat flour for bread making.
Some organic brown rice, though not sure which is healthier: short grian, long grain, basmati?
Which is healthiest.

Re: BUYING Healthiest Grains, Flours, Rice, etc
Sun, November 18, 2007 - 5:09 PMOrganic by all means, whatever grain you decide to purchase. As to which rice is healthier, that would depend on the time of the year you're eating, it---and your individual constitution. I basically eat white basmati, not to be confused with Uncle Ben's white rice. It's a white rice in comparison to white corn. AND white basamati is more easily digested than brown rice. But if you have strong digestion, than organic brown rice [long grain, short grain, whatever] is very healthy. Again, it would be beneficial to determine your constitution/body type to determine which is the healthiest for you. *S*

Sun, November 18, 2007 - 7:30 PMI love Quinoa!!! Quinoa and Amaranth are 2 of the most amazing grains. Simple like rice, unique in texture and charactar (it has a tail).
Following excerpt from
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinoa
Nutritional value
Quinoa was of great nutritional importance in pre-Columbian Andean civilizations, being secondary only to the potato, and followed in third place by maize. In contemporary times this crop has come to be highly appreciated for its nutritional value, as its protein content (12%–18%) is very high. Unlike wheat or rice (which are low in lysine), quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids for humans, making it an unusually complete food. This means that unlike wheat protein, one does not need to supplement it with complementary foods such as legumes containing the other essential amino acids. It is a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus and is high in magnesium and iron. Quinoa is gluten free and considered easy to digest. Because of all these characteristics, quinoa is being considered as a possible crop in NASA's Controlled Ecological Life Support System for long-duration manned spaceflights.[5] -
